LawSense Seminar, ‘Law for Mental Health Practitioners NSW’

Principal Nevena Brown, Principal Scott Ames and Special Counsel Tamir Katz are delighted to be presenting at the LawSense conferences, ‘Law for Mental Health Practitioners.’ Nevena will be presenting in Sydney on 15 February 2019, Tamir will be presenting in Melbourne on 22 February 2019 and Scott will be presenting in Queensland on 28 February and 1 March 2019.

Nevena, Scott and Tamir will discuss the topic of ‘Responding to Complaints: Dealing with Social Media, Investigations, Disciplinary Proceedings and Court Action.’ This presentation will cover:

 

  • avenues of complaint and action against mental health practitioners
  • the roles of the HCCC and AHPRA
  • responding to comments or complaints on social media
  • areas that lead to complaints or disciplinary action
  • implementing strategies to deal with complaints to prevent escalation
  • responding effectively to disciplinary action
  • reflecting on lessons from recent cases
  • exploring the limits of insurance

 

Principal Scott Ames will also present on the topic of ‘Examining Key Aspects a Psychologist Should Consider in Writing an Effective and Defensible Report,’ This presentation will explore elements relating to:

 

  • Reports to Other Health Professionals or Agencies
  • Reports for Courts or Tribunals
