Meridian Lawyers is delighted to announce the following internal promotions, effective 1 July 2016: Georgina Odell (Sydney), Tamir Katz (Melbourne) and James Hand (Melbourne) are promoted to Special Counsel and Mitchell Stein (Sydney) is promoted to Senior Associate.

A key member of the firm’s Commercial Team, Georgina Odell has 20 years’ experience as a commercial lawyer in the UK and Australia and has a detailed background in business and asset sales and restructuring, as well as related litigation. She advises insurance businesses, health practitioners, fitness and child care operators and the not-for-profit sector.
Working with the firm’s Insurance Team for the past 5 years, Tamir Katz’s focus is on health and medical law, disciplinary law for health practitioners, personal injuries, insurance law and coronial inquests and investigations. His clients include public and private hospitals and their insurers, as well as doctors and other healthcare professionals.
James Hand has worked exclusively in insurance law since being admitted to practice in 2004 and he acts on behalf of London underwriters in relation to their Australian risks, a range of local insurers and large corporations.
Since joining Meridian Lawyers in 2012, Mitchell Stein has focussed on the areas of public liability and professional indemnity law. He advises clients regarding disciplinary proceedings before the Health Care Complaints Commission, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and other health industry boards.
