Government
Our lawyers work with all levels of government, advising on administrative, commercial and dispute resolution matters and coronial inquests. We understand the imperatives to operate efficiently within the context of government policy objectives and changing public interest concerns.
Supporting the government sector
We have significant experience advising government departments and statutory authorities including the Department of Health (NSW), VicRoads, Department of Environment and Primary Industries (Victoria), Department of Education (NSW), Treasury Managed Fund (NSW Government’s self-insurance scheme) and Queensland Rail.
Meridian Lawyers was one of only three firms appointed to assist the Victorian Government’s Specialist Coronial Investigations Legal Panel. This appointment serviced all Victorian Government departments and entities.
Our lawyers have acted for VicRoads, the Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure, the Department of Environment and Primary Industries and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in a range of highly sensitive and often heavily publicised Coronial investigations. We have been instructed, on many occasions, to assist the Coroner with his/her investigations where the Victoria Police have been involved and are perceived to be conflicted. This experience provides valuable insight into the coronial process.
