Meridian Lawyers has made another strategic play, luring highly regarded insurance law specialist Andrew Sharpe from McCabes to the firm’s Sydney office.
Andrew is no stranger to Australian and international insurers, with 25 years’ experience acting as a strategic advisor and practitioner in the fields of insurance law, litigation and dispute resolution. He has a particular expertise in product development, coverage disputes and professional indemnity claims.
He’s known for his strategic thinking and collaborative approach, with the ability to affect positive change for the industry generally and deliver enhanced outcomes for clients, insureds, brokers, and agencies.
Through his chairmanship of the National Insurance Law Committee of the Law Council of Australia and collaboration with key insurance, intermediary and professional associations, he has successfully influenced government on a range of policy issues. He is a member of the NSW Committee of the Australian Insurance Law Association, a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute and frequently delivers industry seminars on behalf of ANZIIF and the National Insurance Brokers Association.
Andrew was, for the fifth consecutive year, included in the Best Lawyers in Australia 2017 in Insurance, and was also recognised for Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He is also listed in Doyle’s Guide as a recommended lawyer for professional indemnity.
In announcing Andrew’s appointment, Managing Principal Paul Baker said, “Meridian is delighted to welcome Andrew to our team. Andrew and his pre-eminent insurance law reputation will further enhance Meridian’s insurance law offering and the scope of our expertise. We are thrilled to attract yet another high calibre lawyer to the Meridian team. This is one of a number of important announcements Meridian will make over the next few weeks as we position ourselves for future success and ensure we continue to provide a leading insurance law offering to the market.”
