Barbara de Brouwer

Barbara has more than 20 years’ experience as an insurance litigation lawyer and specialises in personal injury law, in particular medical negligence. She represents health professionals, public and private hospitals and community health organisations in litigation, coronial investigations, and health complaints investigations in various Victorian jurisdictions. Barbara often appears for clients in interlocutory applications and at mediations and is recognised for her strategic approach to litigated matters and her attention to detail.

Barbara is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and has served on its Public Liability & Medical Negligence Committee for over 15 years. By invitation, she has participated in various working groups, and through these roles, has contributed to submissions that have resulted in legislative changes in the area of personal injury law.

Barbara has been recognised in the Doyle’s Guide since 2020 as a leading defendant medical negligence lawyer. In 2022, she was recognised by Australasian Lawyer as a 5-Star personal injury lawyer.

Barbara has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science.
