Kathryn Burrows
Kathryn is a highly accomplished litigator with extensive experience representing insurers in Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claims.
She has an in-depth understanding of the Motor Compensation Act 1999 (MACA) and the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 (MAIA) and has successfully defended claims in the District Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal. Kathryn has also acted in cases determined by the Personal Injury Commission.
Her expertise spans complex claims involving indemnity, dual insurance, s151Z of the Workers Compensation Act 1987 (NSW) and Compensation to Relatives Act 1987 (NSW) claims involving liability issues.
Kathryn specialises in managing complex matters involving liability, medical causation, and catastrophic injuries. She has also been involved in numerous Supreme Court administrative law claims arising from medical assessment service determinations.
In her health and medical negligence practice, Kathryn advises and represents clients in disciplinary investigations, professional conduct proceedings, and medical malpractice litigation. Her clients include pharmacists, medical and dental practitioners, and a range of allied health professionals.
Kathryn’s previous secondment with a CTP insurer, has provided her with valuable insights into insurer operations enabling her to deliver commercially astute and pragmatic advice tailored to the needs of her insurance clients.
