James has worked exclusively in insurance and health law at Meridian since 2014. Over this time, James has developed a diligent and strategic approach to complex legal issues. With a critical eye for detail, the focus of James’s practice is on delivering well-informed and commercial solutions.

James has a broad depth of experience acting for both local and international insurers across a range of industries, including underwriters, self-insured entities, reinsurers, claims management agencies, brokers and industry associations, in relation to both litigated and non-litigated matters. James also acts for insurers in complex indemnity disputes and proceedings under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth).

James’s primary expertise is in professional indemnity, public and product liability, building and construction, dispute resolution and medical negligence.

James’s expertise also includes criminal and disciplinary matters, including medical and allied health malpractice, coronial investigations and inquests, disciplinary investigations and proceedings, and professional services reviews. He has unique expertise in advising businesses and community organisations in response to criminal proceedings instituted by government organisations and departments.

Extensive understanding and experience in insurance law enables James to provide clients with sound and practical advice.
